Why Feasting Is the Best Thing You Can Do This Season
Feasting isn’t just about food—it’s about boosting serotonin, creating joy, and supporting your well-being this season
G’day Mate!
Keeping this short for you, as it’s time to be with family. Writing this from the epic mountain town of Cortina, Italy, my goal is simple: no regrets for you over the next couple of days. There’s a big difference between gluttony and feasting. Gluttony is overindulgence—eating to excess without mindfulness, often leaving you feeling uncomfortable or regretful. Feasting, however, is intentional and celebratory. It’s about coming together, savoring the moment, and enjoying food that nourishes both the body and soul.
Over the next few days, indulge—without guilt. You’re not falling into gluttony every time.

Why Feasting is Good for Your Mental Health
To be clear, I’m smashing every pasta and tiramisu coming my way here in Italy. Feasting can actually boost serotonin levels—and that’s important for your health. Serotonin, the "feel-good hormone," regulates mood, reduces stress, and promotes well-being. Sharing meals, enjoying favorite dishes, and being present can naturally trigger serotonin production, which helps balance mental health, aids digestion, and supports better sleep.
Feasting also promotes temperance (I’ve been diving into Ryan Holiday’s work). It’s about celebrating, not overindulging. As I sit here with pastry crumbs and tiramisu smudges on my jeans, I know this is temporary—a seasonal celebration, not a lifestyle. The exact opposite of gluttony, like King George IV’s infamous breakfast routine.
Why You Are Not King George IV
I found this example of gluttony amusing, so I had to share it. It is also making me feel better as I have my 3rd tiramisu in as many days 🙂 . King George IV reportedly had the following for breakfast every day:
2 pigeons (good luck finding even one now)
3 steaks (respect his dedication to the Atkins diet)
A bottle of wine
A glass of brandy
If you’re doing that daily, that’s gluttony. But you’re not King George IV (and I doubt you’ll eat even one pigeon). So relax, enjoy yourself, and let the serotonin fly.
Feasting Action Plan
I am personally hitting the following.. I am even going to find a way to cook, not because I do not want to do the burpees (that would be funny in the Italian snow, but because it genuinely brings me joy!) Here are three simple steps to keep in mind this week:
1. Move Every Day.
This doesn’t mean hitting the gym or going for a run. Just avoid sitting all day. Walk around the house, clean the dishes (mum will appreciate it 😉), or do anything to keep your blood flowing. Movement aids digestion and prevents post-holiday lethargy, setting you up for success.
2. Eat the Goodies That Bring You Joy.
If there’s a family recipe you love, smash it! Food is more than fuel—it’s about connection, celebration, and happiness. Those moments light up your brain and boost serotonin, supporting your mental health and creating memories that matter.
3. Cook One Thing… or Do 100 Burpees.
Your choice, but I know which one I’d pick. Use the time you have this week to prioritize yourself. Flip through Eat Like a Legend for inspiration (CLICK HERE it is on sale), or find a recipe you’ve been meaning to try.
Enjoy the rest of the year… the exact opposite to gluttony and the actions of King George IV… as I am here to help you crush your 2025. Rest up as it is going to be massive one for you!
